Upholstery in nurseries, kindergartens and day-care centres is used every day. Material selection therefore needs to consider testing for harmful substances, durability, cleaning and a design that suits the room.

AKV supplies artificial leather by the metre to manufacturers, upholsterers and facilities. Peri and Sileather® are certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Product Class I for baby articles. Their different material constructions and surfaces offer options for individual upholstery projects.

Material selection depends on the intended use. Requirements for the finished furniture or end product, including fire safety and product safety, must be considered separately.

Organic Nature · PVC upholstery artificial leather

Peri

Phthalate-free, vegan upholstery artificial leather with more than 10% renewable raw materials. At least 200,000 Martindale cycles according to DIN EN ISO 5470-2 and 50,000 flexing cycles. Testing according to DIN EN 71-3 for the migration of certain elements has been passed. Biocompatibility tests according to DIN EN ISO 10993-5 and -10 are documented.

Contract Silicone · Silicone upholstery material

Sileather®

PVC- and PU-free silicone artificial leather with PETA-Approved Vegan and documented biocompatibility according to ISO 10993-1, -5 and -10. Its stain-resistant surface provides a basis for upholstery that is cleaned regularly. Premier, Clean, Strong and Vintage use the same silicone artificial leather and differ in grain and appearance.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Product Class I for baby articles, is documented for Peri and Sileather®. Peri also has documented testing according to DIN EN 71-3.

Everyday cleaning

Select the material to suit the cleaning products used. Follow the product-specific processing and cleaning instructions and disinfectant recommendations.

Durability and design

Consider the intensity of use, upholstery construction, colour and surface appearance. Original samples help you assess grain and feel before making a decision.

Which AKV materials can be considered for nurseries and kindergartens?

Peri and Sileather® are certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, Product Class I for baby articles. The appropriate material depends on use, upholstery construction, cleaning and design. AKV helps you select a suitable option.

Does EN 71-3 mean that finished play furniture is certified?

The EN 71-3 testing documented for Peri concerns the migration of certain elements from the material. The safety of the finished product and any required testing must be assessed separately.

Does AKV supply finished children's furniture?

AKV supplies artificial leather as a material for further processing. It can be used for new upholstery projects or to reupholster existing furniture.

Are small quantities and customised options available?

Cut lengths are available from 1 linear metre. Custom colours and finishes are possible from 500 linear metres. Sileather® is also available with custom digital printing from 500 linear metres.

Can I request original samples?

Yes. Tell us the intended application, preferred colour, quantity and cleaning requirements. We will advise you and provide suitable original samples.
